Google Pack Now Includes StarOffice

Google made a big change in the Google Pack recently. The free Google Pack software package started out with free Google applications like Google Earth, Google Desktop, the Google Photos Screensaver and Picasa (the photo-editing program that Google purchased).

Google began including other programs like Firefox (with the added Google toolbar), Adobe Reader, RealPlayer, Spyware Doctore (Starter Edition), Norton Security Scan ,Google Talk, and Skype.

Now, you can add Sun Microsystem’s StarOffice to the list! What’s StarOffice? It’s a supported version of OpenOffice, with lots more templates, fonts, and more…

Eee PC Flying off the Shelves

Asus Eee PC 4G

The new Asus Eee PC 4G has finally been released in the U.S. and is flying off the shelves. Both Directron and NewEgg
have had them in stock, out of stock, in stock, out of stock…

Why was this so significant? The new Eee PC is tiny, fast, AND cheap. Unlike its bigger brothers and sisters, though, the Eee PC’s processor is not its "fast" component — it is the Eee PC’s solid state drive that provides a big speed increase over conventional notebook hard drives.

At this point, the only version that’s available is $399 (USD) for the Eee PC 4G, which has 512MB RAM and a 4 GB solidstate drive. Add built-in wireless (802.11 b/g, of course), Ethernet and an optional v.92 modem and you’ve got communications opportunities.
