    Terry -

Read the review of OpenOffice. Very good!.

I actually use OpenOffice to repair broken MS office files. If OO can’t load it up, neither can the commercial file recovery products.

People can get their feet wet with OpenOffice with the portable version at http://www.portableapps.com That version doesn’t even install

    Hi Terry,

I, like Glenn Young, run Parallels on my MacBook Pro. I have 3 VM’s installed, Vista, XP and Kubuntu. ALL VM’s run much faster on this machine than any other machine I have. One comment though about running Vista. This also applies to all other PC’s of mine that also run Vista. I run Vista Premium and within a couple of minutes the fans begin to scream. This does not occur while running XP or Kubuntu. The processor temp rarely goes above 50 degrees C, but running Vista quickly drives the temperature up to 65C.

    Best regards, Joe

    Hi Terry,
I’m a short-time subscriber and really like your newsletter.

I just checked out the new blog pages and they
    look nice!

I agree with your recomendation of Open Office and the fact that it’s nice to put a copy on your USB drive to take with you.
    Keep up the good work!
    Have fun,
    George
