I”ve just finished installing Xandros 4 Home Edition Premium on my notebook. This is my primary computer and dual-boots with Windows XP SP2.
Installation went surprisingly smooth and the reboot into Xandros did, too.
On the other hand, I had to boot into Xandros” configuration mode to edit the boot manager configuration file. Unfortunately, Xandros had set up my Dell Utility Partition as a boot option, but didn”t set up my actual Windows XP partition in its menu.
A quick edit of lilo.conf, followed by running lilo to update the boot manager itself, and it was done.
Why did I have this problem? Maybe because I did a Xandros update installation, because I hadn”t heard of anyone having this kind of problem installing alongside Windows. It was probably because Dell put the utility partition on hda1 and the XP partition on XP2.
Oh, well. It”s up now and I”m looking forward to experimenting with Xandros 4.
